Adventure Routes Canada Launches National Adventure Motorcycling Network at The Motorcycle and Powersport Shows – Toronto
From multi-day gravel forest roads through remote backcountry to scenic routes linking small towns and fuel stops, Adventure Routes Canada (“ARC”) gives riders a new way to explore the country—one mapped track at a time.
A new national initiative in Canadian motorcycling officially launched on Friday at the MotoCanada Toronto Motorcycle Show. Adventure Routes Canada introduced its free, coast-to-coast adventure route network; a volunteer-driven effort designed to connect riders with Canada’s diverse landscapes while supporting rural tourism and responsible outdoor recreation.
Incorporated as a Canadian Not-For-Profit organization, ARC provides online maps, in both web and mobile (iOS and Android) versions, as well as free downloadable GPS-ready adventure motorcycle routes at www.canada-arc.ca.
A Network Built by Riders, for Riders
The platform currently features mapped routes across five provinces and one territory, with additional regions in development. Whether it’s a long gravel loop linking northern communities, a weekend route that mixes backroads and bush trails, or a multi-province journey planned entirely from GPS tracks, ARC is designed to support real-world riding, created by ADV riders for ADV riders.
ARC is actively seeking verified route submissions from rider communities across Canada to help grow the national network. ARC’s long-term vision is to establish a recognized cross-country system of carefully scouted and vetted adventure routes that position Canada among the world’s premier destinations for adventure motorcycling.
“After months of planning and collaboration with volunteers from across the country, we are incredibly proud to officially launch Adventure Routes Canada,” said Dave Millier, President of the ARC. “Canada offers unmatched diversity in terrain and riding experiences. ARC is about connecting riders to those opportunities in a way that is organized, responsible, and community driven.”
Not Just For Off-Road Adventure Riders
ARC has adopted a unique approach to their routes. Rather than just build routes that are off-road friendly, the goal of the project over time is to build each route section with two options:
- Off-Road: Heavily off-road, getting riders off pavement as much as possible.
- 100% Paved: Entirely on-road surfaces.
The goal is to allow ALL licensed motorcycle riders to be able to experience adventure riding together. Each section starts and ends in the same place, so riders on ADV bikes could go out with their friends on their street-only bikes, each ride their respective route, and then connect back together at the end of the day for food and stories of the day’s awesome riding.
Supporting Local Economies
Adventure motorcyclists typically travel multi-day routes, stopping for fuel, food, lodging, and supplies in smaller communities along the way. By organizing structured, mapped routes, ARC aims to create predictable travel corridors that encourage tourism spending in rural and remote regions.
From independent fuel stations and family-run restaurants to local lodges and motorcycle dealerships, adventure riders contribute directly to regional economies. ARC’s national framework helps spotlight these travel opportunities while encouraging safe and prepared riding.
More Than Just Maps
While route downloads form the foundation of the platform, ARC is building a centralized resource hub for Canadian adventure riders. The website offers practical information including:
- Gear insights and equipment awareness.
- Trip-planning advice for new riders.
- Packing guidance: what to bring and what to leave behind.
- Navigation and safety best practices.
- Community-driven route development updates.
ARC is positioning itself as the first stop for Canadian riders planning anything from a weekend gravel ride to a cross-country expedition.
Community Supported
As a volunteer-led Not-For-Profit organization (support contributions are not tax deductible), ARC relies on community and industry support to continue expanding the route network. Riders who wish to help grow the initiative can contribute through the Support page at canada-arc.ca, where exclusive ARC swag is available at select contribution levels.
ARC proudly acknowledges its founding sponsors, Canada Rides and Gryphon Moto, whose early support has helped bring the project to life. Organizations interested in sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to connect directly.
A Commitment to Responsible Riding
Adventure Routes Canada promotes responsible and sustainable motorcycling by encouraging riders to respect land-use regulations, environmental stewardship principles, private property rights, and all applicable provincial, territorial, and federal laws. ARC supports a ride-prepared, ride-responsibly culture designed to preserve access to Canada’s roads and backcountry trails for future generations.
